The Tahoe Queen paddlewheeler will undergo a half-million dollar renovation in time to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2008, Lake Tahoe Cruises, operated by ARAMARK Harrison Lodging, announced Wednesday.

The renovations will result in a new and updated, luxury saloon-style look and feel to the Tahoe Queen, the only authentic paddlewheeler on Lake Tahoe. The Queen will be open for minimized operations from November through mid-January to accommodate the first phase of interior improvements.

The boat will be open from mid-January through mid-March to operate as the world’s only known ski shuttle, as it has done for more than a decade, to North Shore ski resorts. It will be out of operation again for exterior renovations and additional interior improvements through early spring.

Renovations will include a new wooden railing to wrap around the entire third deck for a more pleasant cocktail and sunset experience, a new brushed-brass look to all deck railings, an open deck with chandelier, new lounge-style furniture, bar stools placed at all bars, a decreased maximum occupancy for a more comfortable dining experience and more.
