Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to conduct demographic surveys

In an effort to learn how residents and visitors travel around the lake, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency will conduct surveys over the course of 11 days.

TRPA will be out at several dozen sites in the Lake Tahoe Basin Aug. 16-27 administering the survey.

The survey — which is part of the agency’s annual monitoring program — will gather demographic data and information about how people are traveling to commercial and recreation areas at Lake Tahoe.

“Data will be used only to assess transit, trail and private vehicle usage and help plan multi-modal transportation improvements in the Tahoe Basin,” states a press release from TRPA.

The research is part of TRPA’s transportation monitoring program. According to the agency, it is used to evaluate progress on work to reduce dependency on the private automobile in the basin.

All individual survey information will be kept anonymous, while a summary of results will be made available to the public.
