Tahoe Rim race Saturday

About 200 people are expected to pound the pavement at the first-ever 50-mile run at Lake Tahoe Saturday.

The inaugural Tahoe Rim Trail 50 K/50 M Ultra edges the basin’s skyline and loops through the forest of Nevada between Spooner Summit and the Mount Rose Highway.

The run is sponsored by the Tahoe Mountain Milers and Sagebrush Stompers running clubs. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tahoe Rim Trail and Lake Tahoe Nevada State Parks trail maintenance programs.

All trails will remain open for general use during the run. However, hikers, bikers and runners should plan for path congestion.

Parking at Spooner Lake State Park will be limited. Event participants will be parking at the snow park area on State Route 28.
