Tahoe Star Tours incorporates new technology that puts the universe in users’ hands

Making use of Celestron’s latest telescope technology, Tahoe Star Tours is giving stargazers the ability to see celestial objects and have them delivered to their phone

LAKE TAHOE, Calif. /Nev. – Stargazers interested in viewing the dark skies over Lake Tahoe now have access to the latest telescope technology from Celestron at Tahoe Star Tours events scheduled for the remainder of the summer season. Leveraging Celestron Origin, which was introduced by the world-leading telescope manufacturer earlier this year, stargazers have the opportunity to capture stunning views of faint, deep-sky celestial objects in stunning color and detail and have them delivered to their phone or tablet in seconds.

“Celestron has been an incredible partner to Tahoe Star Tours over many years, and I’m thrilled to be able to share their latest technology with our guests this season and beyond,” said Tony Berendsen, founder and owner of Tahoe Star Tours. “Stargazers are going to be amazed by the incredible clarity and image detail that Celestron Origin offers, and how it quite literally puts the universe in their hands.”

Tahoe Star Tours will also host a special presentation at its August 24 event at Northstar California featuring special guest and Celestron ambassador Pranvera Hyseni, founder of Astronomy Outreach of Kosovo and Ph.D. student of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Santa Cruz.

Previously, Tahoe Star Tours guests had the ability to view deep space objects through the eyepiece of Celestron telescopes, but what they have been seeing – galaxies as an example – looked like elongated fuzzy objects. Celestron Origin features the same extraordinarily wide field of view and ultra-fast telescope technology that professional researchers and government institutions around the world have come to rely on. The images Tahoe Star Tours guests will get from Origin will be much sharper, well defined, and in color.

In addition to Celestron Origin joining its telescopic fleet, Tahoe Star Tours will host a special presentation at its August 24 event at Northstar California featuring special guest and Celestron ambassador Pranvera Hyseni, founder of Astronomy Outreach of Kosovo and Ph.D. student of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Santa Cruz. Hyseni’s presentation will focus on her efforts supporting the building of the first ever public observatory and planetarium in Kosovo. She has worked closely with government officials in Kosovo, and enabled the donation of valuable telescope equipment from Celestron for the observatory.

Led by amateur astronomer and poet Tony Berendsen, past president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, each tour of the night sky includes a lively science-based talk about the cosmos and telescopic view of the constellations. Berendsen has produced astronomy events in the Lake Tahoe region for over 20 years, offering a distinct blend of science and art, and captivating the minds of curious participants. Advance reservations for all Tahoe Star Tours events are recommended, and all tours are offered weather and conditions permitting.

Tahoe Star Tours events are $50 for adults and $30 for children ages 12 and under (age 3 and under are free), and advance reservations are required. Tours begin at 8:30 p.m. and conclude at 10:30 p.m. Discounts are offered to active-duty military and seniors ages 65+. A 10% discount is also offered to Epic pass holders for stargazing events held at Northstar California Resort. Well behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
