Tahoe Today: The Psychic Point of View
As an intuitive and a natural-born psychic, I always wondered why people come to Tahoe, and better yet, why they never leave. If they leave, the lucky ones – such as myself -seem to always come back.
Over the next few months, I want to explore the vortex of the spiritual realm of Tahoe, why we hurt inside when we have to leave; how much spiritual and emotional pain we have to endure in order to stay at the lake and survive.
My Tahoe story begins at Harveys Casino dealing blackjack. I used to say it would take a bomb to get me out of there. When the bomb actually did go off at Harveys on Aug. 27, 1980, it blew me right into a local radio station. The station owner also had an affiliate station in Hawaii, åso on my vacation, I decided to try it out.
Five years later, I would travel up and back from Tahoe to Hawaii while having my own radio and television show in Tahoe and the islands. Then came national and international fame. The road was a rainbow of success, which all started in Tahoe.
The nightlife emerged as the road and fate intertwined.
It was September, 1984. The place was Harrah’s.
People were standing in line. Soon the room would be filled to capacity. It seemed as though every local in town must have been there.
I sat behind the curtain. My feelings were mixed. My emotions were running amok. I wanted to run and hide. But this was my audition in Tahoe.
The music started: “Eye in the Sky,” my theme song. The chatter started to die down. The music faded as the audience quieted. I glanced at my host Ken Hunter. Suddenly, Ken turned to me with panic in his voice.
“Well, Schear, this is another fine mess you have gotten us into,” he said. “It’s now or never, lady. Let’s give them one hell of a show.”
“And now ladies and gentlemen, Harrah’s Stateline Cabaret is proud to present in our showroom psychic Dayle Schear!”
Well, that’s how it all started. One thing led to another and now I’m back here in Tahoe, writing my own column.
And as I sit in my house nestled within the mountains, overlooking the pine trees and the lake, there is a slight gentle breeze blowing. Two acres of my own, no neighbors to fight with. Tahoe is just as beautiful as it was in the 1970s when we first came upon her. All in all, I have lived here since 1974. I made a 360-degree turn right back to where all my fame had started.
In the upcoming weeks I want to explore the local businesses, talk with people to find out how they came upon Tahoe, why they are still here, what emotional and spiritual calling they have. I want to connect the stories with synchronicity. I believe we all have a very special reason for living in Tahoe.
I will be starting a blog on the Tribune website and I welcome all your questions. I will be picking a few questions to answer each week as time goes by.
We will explore Tahoe, the seen and the unseen, and I welcome your suggestions.
From the desk of the Psychic Point Of View, I am signing off for this week. The sun is shining, the lake is beautiful and it’s a lovely day.
