Tahoe Women’s Center recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Provided to the Tribune

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center will host a number of events to recognize victims and survivors of intimate partner violence. South Lake Tahoe’s Silent Witness Memorial and Exhibit will take place on Oct. 1 in English and Oct. 2 in Spanish, at 6 p.m. both evenings.

Silent Witness is an art installation displayed in communities across the nation to raise awareness of the deadly and devastating effects of intimate partner violence and homicide. Silhouettes will be displayed bearing the names and true stories of victims from our local area who have been brutally murdered by intimate partners. The community is welcome to attend the event at South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd., to view the installation, read these local stories, listen to guest speakers, and take part in a pledge to end violence and murder in our community.

For details on October events, call South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center at (530) 544-2118 or visit http://www.sltwc.org.
