Tantric finally makes it to Lake Tahoe for show
August 20, 2008
Tahoe’s Tantric fans finally get to see the new version of metal-turned-alternative rock band.
A scheduling screw-up brought cancellation of a show at Bar24 in Bill’s Casino last spring. Nashville’s Tantric will be at North Shore’s Crystal Bay Casino Wednesday to headline a Crown Room Show. Salt Lake City upstarts Royal Bliss (see SoundBite) open at 9 p.m.
Band leader and singer Hugo Ferriera is the only remaining original Tantric member. The band’s new sound includes Marcus Ratzenboeck’s electric violin. Guitarist Joe Pessia, formerly of Dramagods, ex-Fuel drummer Kevin Miller and bassist Erik Leonhardt round out the band.
Tantric has toured this year in support of its third album, “The End Begins.” Up until three weeks ago the band was sharing bills with Fosterchild, which has the same rhythm section. With Royal Bliss aboard, Miller and Leonhardt won’t have to do double duty at 6,200 feet.
Ferriera was enthused about Tantric’s new album last spring when he spoke to Lake Tahoe Action.
“I am totally stoked about it,” he said. “I think it’s absolutely the best record we’ve ever done. It’s doing fantastic on the radio.”

The song “Down and Out” has received the most airplay. The first version of Tantric had the No. 1 single “Breakdown.”
While its lineup is different, expect to hear plenty of old Tantric material, along with the new songs, Ferriera said.
