Team Tahoe takes home medals

Team Tahoe, the Special Olympics softball team, returned from the Northeast Regional Softball Competition held Aug. 23-24 at Freedom Park in Sacramento with a fourth-place ribbon along with two gold medals, two silver and one bronze.

The softball team faced Davis in the first round, then went on to defeat Shasta and concluded its tournament play with games against El Dorado and Placerville.

In the skills competition, featuring running, throwing, fielding and batting, Andrew Young and Kimee Williams each won gold, while Katelyn Tara and Cheryl Murtha each took silver and Ryan Wilford came home with a bronze medal.

Team Tahoe softball consists of Michael Cotter, Gordon Bonar, John Lahti Jr., Jamie Hustler, Zeb Thompson, Phillip Sturgeon, Dominic Celado, J.D. Langley, Kimi Peshon, Tom Williams, Michael Look, Melissa Ahrens, Jesse Fiegel, Nick Fiegel, Andrew Young, Kimee Williams, Katelyn Tara, Cheryl Murtha and Ryan Wilford.
