Teens nabbed in graffiti case
November 30, 2005
KINGS BEACH – Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday in connection with recent vandalism here.
The three youths, approximately 14 years old, were arrested on suspicion of vandalism and released to the custody of their parents, according to Sgt. Dan Ingalls of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
The vandalism they were accused of was related to graffiti that was painted on numerous private properties in the Kings Beach area.
“We have experienced a recent peak in graffiti taggings,” Ingalls said, noting that it could be a dispute between gangs, increased notoriety in graffiti or other reasons. “Who knows what it is.”
The arrested teens have “no clear gang affiliations,” Ingalls said.
In November, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in Tahoe received 18 reports of graffiti in Kings Beach, but Ingalls said the number of unreported graffiti markings could be much higher.

John Evans, a Kings Beach business owner, said he noticed an increase in graffiti markings in Kings Beach this week.
“This is the most tagging we’ve ever had here in Kings Beach,” Evans said. “The tagging here has reached a pace I’ve never seen before. We’ve had a month’s worth of tagging in just a day and a half.”
Ingalls said the sheriff’s department will continue to pursue people responsible for graffiti in Tahoe.
