The city of South Lake Tahoe Recreation and Swim Complex has something for you to do on these brisk winter days – swim.

City officials are not trying to tell you to go jump in the lake. That would be crazy.

They want you to jump in a pool – an indoor, heated pool at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation and Swim Complex.

“If you are looking for something warm, why not go swimming at the only heated indoor public swimming pool in South Lake Tahoe?” said Bob Swain of the city’s recreation department.

The water is 82 degrees. The pool is 25 yards long, 15 yards wide and has a diving board and water toys for children.

The pool is open every day of the week, except Sunday, with public swimming hours and times specifically dedicated to lap swimming.

“We get a lot of lap swimmers in the winter. A lot of people come in just to stay in shape,” said John Collins, recreation supervisor. “But, on a weekend, we have up to 50 kids in here.”

The Recreation and Swim Complex is located at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

For fees and hours of operation, residents are encouraged to call (530) 542-6056
