Americana music is set to fill Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Vinyl music venue this Friday when Placerville’s the Random Strangers take the stage.
Americana incorporates elements of country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, according to the Americana Music Association.
The Random Strangers include Suzi Todd (guitar, vocals), Larry Park (guitar and vocals), Rita Harrington (drums), Dave Wren (pedal steel guitar) and Roger Standon (bass).
Each of the members of the group has a long history in music.
Park, for example, founded the band Boy Howdy in the 1980s and had several country hits with the group. Boy Howdy won an Academy of Country Music Award in 1990 for “Best Band (Non-Touring)” and was nominated by ACM for “Vocal Group of the Year.” Park was also named one of “The 50 Fastest Guitar Players of All Time” by Guitar World magazine in 1990, according to the Random Strangers online biography.
Wren was inducted into the Western Swing Music Society’s Hall of Fame in 2008 and the Northwest Western Swing Music Society’s Pioneers of Western Swing Music in 2010.
Hard Rock is located at 50 U.S. Highway 50 in Stateline.
