The Sip Scene: Artemis’ Margarita
The Sip Scene showcases unique libations from around the basin. Whether it’s a type of beer, wine, cocktail — you name it — we’ll uncover those tasty beverages for you to try at one of the countless local breweries, bars and restaurants.
Is there a drink that screams out that summer is here more than the margarita? In my opinion, no. So, with our recent weather warming up, it seems like this featured cocktail is calling. And if margaritas are your jam, then it is definitely calling.

Margaritas can only go as far as the tequila takes them. Here, it comes in the form of Cazadores Blanco (silver) which highlights the flavors of citrus and herbs and has a finish so smooth it would make a baby’s cheek jealous. It’s mixed with a concoction of Grand Marnier, fresh lime, pomegranate juice (which also gives this drink an amazing color), and agave syrup, then finished off with a mix of tajin and salt on the rim.
At first whiff of this drink, it just smells like fun. And after the first swig, the fun is confirmed. There’s just the right amount of sweetness to balance out the tartness from the pomegranate, but it still lets those flavors shine. The Grand Mariner adds depth along with more citrus notes to ping further off the tequila – which is quite sneaky. It lurks in the corners of this drink and pokes its head out only when it needs to, but always at the perfect time.
It can probably be said with many margaritas, but I feel like this one could get you into some trouble with how easy it goes down. But, if you’re taking my advice about a summertime drink, it may be worth it to start the season off with a bang.
