SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Tahoe Art League is pleased to have Malcolm Tibbetts give a presentation on segmented wood turning Wednesday.

A master at his craft, Tibbetts is busy producing more and more artistic pieces. Since 2004, when he first visited and charmed the Tahoe Art League, he has been very busy. In addition to traveling the country giving workshops and presentations, he has published a book and produced five “How to” DVDs, and created, with family help, a super website, http://www.tahoeturner.com.

Tibbetts’ passion for woodworking started as a youngster learning with his grandfather in his workshop. He has been a Tahoe resident for 40 years, earning his living as part of the Heavenly management team. He was the artistic/engineering force behind the Observation Deck off the Gondola.

Once retired from Heavenly, Tibbetts turned his woodworking and furniture making into a full-time segmented wood turner career. His works of art are not only beautiful but fascinating. One is inclined to ask – How does he do that?

Anyone interested in art, woodworking or “how things are made” will find this presentation very interesting and is invited to attend the TAL meeting.

TAL meetings are held at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., from 7 to 9 p.m., with the presentation from 8 to 9 p.m. TAL’s speakers’ presentations are intended to enrich the Tahoe Art Scene.
