Canadian-American rock act the Band saw a string of success from the 1960s to the 1990s that led to the group being ranked 50th on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Arts of All Time, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and being inducted into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Band’s drummer and lead singer, Levon Helm, passed away in 2012, but a group of musicians with close connections to the music legend will play the Harrah’s Lake Tahoe South Shore Room this Wednesday, Dec. 30. The Weight takes its name from one of the Band’s most popular cuts and interprets the Band songs loved by millions.

“Jim Weider, Randy Ciarlante, Brian Mitchell, Byron Isaacs, Marty Grebb are The Weight band,” according to the group’s online biography. “They were Levon’s brothers in life and in music. They played in many incarnations of The Band, in The Rick Danko Band, in The Levon Helm Band and more. And now they bring the timeless music of Levon and The Band to you through The Weight! C’mon out and catch the show. Wear your favorite ‘Band’ t-shirt, brush up on your ‘Band’ lyrics, wear your dancin’ shoes and get ready to be part of the celebration of the music of The Band!”

Harrah’s Lake Tahoe is located at 15 U.S. Highway 50 in Stateline.
