Thelma Ruth Weidman

Thelma Ruth Weidman, 81, of Corvallis, Ore., passed away Oct. 9, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis, Ore. Thelma was born in Scott City, Kan., and moved to Porterville, Calif., in 1938.

She graduated from high school in 1943 and married Delmar “Smoky” Pease that year. They had three children. In 1954 they moved to Placerville, Calif.

In 1962, Thelma married attorney John C. Weidman. Thelma moved to Corvallis in 1992. She very much enjoyed all her new neighbors and friends.

During her lifetime, she worked as a secretary in fruit packing houses on the West Coast, for the telephone company and as a legal secretary for her husband. During the early fifties in Posey, Calif., while working at Jack Ranch, Thelma transported kids to a two-room school using her own vehicle.

Thelma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed living in Stanley, Idaho, during the summer, until her health no longer permitted the trip. Thelma was an avid crossword puzzle fan, a sports fan and enjoyed flowers and reading.

Thelma enjoyed her South Lake Tahoe friends. She was a longtime supporter of the Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Thelma was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Pease, in 1985 and her mother and stepfather Ethel and Albert Hasz.

Thelma is survived by her husband John Weidman, children Nikki Amburn Val Pease, Rhonda Rhodes, John D. Weidman, Paul Weidman, Melinda Wooten and their spouses. Thelma had 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that charitable contributions be made to the Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The graveside service will be at the Odd Fellow’s Cemetery on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Corvallis, Ore.
