Third session of citizens academy graduates

The third session of the City of South Lake Tahoe’s Citizens Academy graduated during the Nov. 5 City Council meeting.

The Fall 2013 academy was held from Sept. 25 to Oct. 30 and consisted of Anita Boel, Brandi Bannister, Brooke Martone-Ballachey, Gia Richards, Greg Carlson, Jennifer Story, Jonathan Moore, Julie Stewart, Karen Kuentz, Mike Allen, Mike Peron, Peter Gochis, Peter Spellman, Rachel Roberts, Scott Fair, and Scott Weavil.

Course topics included “City Government 101” which highlighted the city’s history, “Dollars and Sense” about city economics, “We Built this City” presentation by Engineering, Development Services, Motor Pool and Public Works, “Something for Everyone” encompassing Parks and Recreation, and “Keeping Citizens Safe” by police and fire departments.



The South Lake Tahoe Citizens Academy is a free, six-session interactive course designed to provide residents with an in-depth look into municipal government, as well as, information about the services and programs of the city of South Lake Tahoe.
