Thursday’s weather: Sunny and warm into the weekend
August 21, 2008
Higher pressure aloft and a dry westerly flow pattern will result in mostly sunny skies and warmer daytime temperatures today and Friday in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s around the lake under sunny skies. Southwest winds around 10 to 20 mph are expected to kick up during the afternoon creating a one foot chop on the lake. Lows tonight are forecast to drop into the mid 30s to lower 40s under clear skies and light winds.
A little warmer daytime temperatures along with some afternoon cumulus buildups are expected on Friday.
Highs are projected to reach to lower to mid 80s Friday afternoon or about 10 degrees above the seasonal normal for this date. Look for lighter southwest winds around 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon on Friday.
