Today’s weather around the Lake Tahoe region
Look for pleasant, near-perfect fall like weather today as a high pressure system continues to move into the region. Highs today will be around 71 and lows tonight, 31. Winds will be light.
High temperatures for Thursday will again be in the low 70s, around 5 degrees above the seasonal norm of 66. The low for Thursday will be 34. However some change is in the air as a weak low pressure system is moving into the area.
For Friday, look for cool temperatures and winds picking up as the low pressure system heads to the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service.
Only light amounts of precipitation are expected with this fast-moving system, mainly from Lake Tahoe northward. Temperatures drop down 10 to 15 degrees Friday and Saturday, with highs mostly in the 50s. Sunday should be a fairly nice day with temperatures rising back into the 60s, but increasing southwest winds are expected by Sunday afternoon ahead of the next frontal system heading our way on Monday.
There may be a better chance of precipitation with Monday’s system; however, it’s still too early to project amounts or snow levels. It’s a good time to winterize the house and autos, as an early winter may be possible in this La Nina pattern.
