Today’s weather: Mostly cloudy with isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms
August 6, 2008
A moist southerly flow will continue over the Tahoe area today bringing a chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy skies should have a moderating affect on temperatures with highs expected in the mid to upper 70s this afternoon.
Clouds should also keep overnight lows rather mild with readings in the mid to upper 40s. Winds are forecast to be southerly this afternoon around 10 to 15 mph except for local gusts to 45 mph near any thundershowers. Boaters should keep an eye on the sky and be prepared to get off the lake quickly if Thunderstorms develop.
Partly cloudy skies will persist on Thursday with a few showers or thunderstorms possible mainly east of Lake Tahoe as stronger southwest winds around 10 to 20 mph kick in during the afternoon. Highs on Thursday are forecast to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s around the lake.
An approaching trough of low pressure off the Pacific Northwest coast will bring a drier southwest flow to the area Friday and into the coming weekend.
