Today’s weather: Periods of snow through Saturday
A moist westerly flow coming off the Pacific will overrun a cold air mass in the Great Basin to produce cloudy skies and light snow into Saturday.
High temperatures today are forecast to reach the lower 30s under cloudy skies. Overnight lows tonight and Saturday night will stay relatively mild under cloudy skies with minimum temperatures in the lower 20s.
Snow fall amounts are expected to total around 6 to 12 inches above 7,000 feet and 3 to 6 inches at Lake level by tonight.
Higher pressure aloft will build into the area on Sunday resulting in drier and milder weather. Highs on Saturday and Sunday are forecast to rise into the upper 30s to lower 40s at lake level.
A dry and mild weather pattern will prevail early next week with the next chance of rain or snow coming on Thursday according to longer range forecast models.
