Toddler badly hurt from fall from window

A 4-year-old South Lake Tahoe boy was seriously injured Sunday evening when he fell out of a second-story window.

Witnesses told police that they saw the boy jumping up and down in front of the window of the home, on the 1000 block of Tata Lane, before the fall. The screen came out and the boy fell head first to the ground, police said. In the boy’s room, police said they found a bed underneath the window.

When South Lake Tahoe firefighters arrived around 7:34 p.m., the boy was unconscious and laying on his back. The child’s stepfather, Raymond Silva, 29, was downstairs in the home at the time of the accident, police said. Renee Rosales, the boy’s mother, was not at home.

The child was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Washoe Medical Center. On Monday, the boy was listed in critical and unstable condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
