“Free Fallin’,” “American Girl” and “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” are among the hits from a deep song list available to a Bay Area tribute band performing at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe this weekend.

Petty Theft formed in 2003 and plays the song of American musical great Tom Petty.

The group takes the stage at Hard Rock’s Vinyl music venue on Saturday, Nov. 21.

“Petty Theft is not about gimmicks,” according to the band’s online biography. “We’re not a costume band and we don’t try to imitate Tom Petty. We simply pay tribute to one of America’s most celebrated and talented songwriters by playing his music as if it were our own. Petty Theft plays Tom Petty’s songs true to the originals and in the spirit of his legendary band’s live shows, performing everything from his revered classics to his most current hits.”

The band has played all over the greater Bay Area and was voted best band in the North Bay Bohemian Readers Poll in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe is located at 50 U.S. Highway 50 in Stateline.
