Tourist helps police stop pursuit

A visitor to Campground by the Lake helped South Lake Tahoe police nab a man suspected of resisting arrest at about 5:30 p.m. on Thurs-day.

When police tried to talk to a 29-year-old man as he road a bicycle west on Lake Tahoe Boulevard near Lakeview Avenue, the man allegedly sped off, doubling-back around Harrison Avenue businesses and riding into the campground, said police Sgt. Josh Adler.

Several police and El Dorado County Sheriff’s vehicles picked up the pursuit. Noticing the chase, a male camper tackled the man, who was then taken into custody.

Police booked the man into El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of evading police and resisting arrest, Adler said.

Why the man allegedly fled wasn’t immediately known, Adler said.
