Training class available for children’s advocates

Provided to the Tribune

There are many children in South Lake Tahoe who are in need of a special “voice.” These are children who have been abused or neglected and have not had a voice to speak for their needs.

CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, is offering a fall training class for those who are interested in becoming an advocate. It meets from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 30 and concluding Oct. 30.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge and advocate for a child’s best interest in court. The program serves more than 100 children but has more waiting to be helped. Call Wendy David or Kelly Parker at (530) 573-3072 for information and registration.
