Provided to the Tribune

The Sierra Nevada Alliance is seeking water-quality monitoring volunteers.

Water-quality monitors participate in quarterly monitoring projects to collect water-quality data, evaluate fish habitat, conduct bird counts or make visual observations of stream health.

The orientation for volunteers is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in the Aspen Room at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Field training for volunteers will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
