Tree goes down, power goes out

Shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday, residents of the Cold Creek neighborhood and a traffic signal at Pioneer Trail for about an hour and a half lost power when a man who was cutting down a tree on his Copper Way property accidentally fell it into a set of power lines. Lake Valley Fire Department were dispatched to the scene for precautionary measures but no action was taken. Since the tree was under 6 inches in diameter, the owner was legally within his right to remove it from his property and was not cited for the outage.
