William Ferchland

A man accused of breaking into vacation homes and vandalizing them has a trial date scheduled for October and faces 18 years and six months in prison, according to court documents.

Darren Spicer, 30, has pleaded innocent to 16 counts including first-degree residential burglary, unlawfully driving or taking a vehicle, receiving stolen property, vandalism and giving false information to a police officer.

Seven of the 16 counts involve residential burglary. Only one, providing false information to a police officer, is a misdemeanor.

A status conference is scheduled for Aug. 8 at 8 a.m. at El Dorado County Superior Court. An anticipated six-day trial is slated for Oct. 18.

Spicer was arrested in April. His bail at El Dorado County Jail is $75,000.
