Tribune education promoter honored

Staff reports

Tahoe Daily Tribune’s Educational Services Manager Dave Rude received the first place award this month for Marketing and Promotion from the California Newspapers in Education Association.

The award goes to the Newspapers in Education managers who create and implement the best marketing and promotion program for literacy and reading in the state of California. Rude’s competition included the Los Angeles Times, the Fresno Bee and other large and small newspapers.

Rude also was elected NIE secretary for the California chapter.

“We’re really proud to have him as a member of our board,” said Bobbie McClain, NIE spokeswoman. “The work he turned in was first class. It’s exactly what we should be doing in NIE.”

Rude said he was “very pleased and surprised” when his name was called.

“It is very exciting to be recognized for this, on what is almost my one-year anniversary with the Tribune,” Rude said.

Rude thanked Sierra-At-Tahoe ski resort for their part in the program and all of the area’s teachers, principals and parents who encouraged the fourth- through eighth-graders in the South Shore area to read the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
