Trojan SCend-off event planned

The University of Southern California Northern Nevada Alumni Club invites everyone to attend the 16th annual SCend-off Beach, Band and Barbecue Party. The event will begin at 3 p.m. July 28 at the Round Hills Pines Beach Club with great food and great fun.

Admission is $25 for adults and $11 for youth 12 years of age and younger. For reservations and more information call (775) 783-1479 or (775) 588-2541. All proceeds will benefit the USC student scholarship fund.

The event will include prizes and raffles, T-shirts and a barbecue with all the trimmings. The giant prize includes a trip to the USC/CAL game with San Francisco hotel accommodations and golf at Edgewood Tahoe.



The world famous USC Trojan marching band will present a rousing concert on the shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe and the USC cheer and song leaders also will entertain. Students from the Lake Tahoe/Reno/Sparks and Northern Nevada area who will enter and return to USC this fall will be introduced and scholarships totaling more than $12,000 will be presented.

From this area USC is receiving three Presidential Scholars, three Deans Achievement Scholars and two Trustee Scholars. The students are from Reno, Truckee, Douglas, Galena, Carson and South Tahoe high schools. Two USC Northern Nevada Alumni Club Scholarships also will be awarded. A total of 14 new students from this area will be attending USC this fall.
