TRPA names board member

California Gov. Gray Davis has appointed a Rancho Santa Fe resident to the Governing Board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.

Terry Giles, 51, is the president and owner of Giles Enterprises, a law practice specializing in civil and criminal law. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University School of Law.

Giles holds a bachelor of arts from California State University Fullerton and a law degree from Pepperdine University.

Fifteen members comprise the governing board of TRPA: seven from California, seven from Nevada and one non-voting member appointed by the president of the United States. Giles fills one of the two seats occupied by appointees of the governor of California. Board member Rick Cronk had occupied the seat.

TRPA governors do not receive a salary, and the position does not require Senate confirmation.
