TRPA workshop looks at Tahoe’s traffic congestion

Summer at Lake Tahoe can be a beautiful thing unless you’re stuck in traffic.

As the basin becomes more popular, congestion, limited public transit and inadequate bicycle trails become more frustrating.

The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is in the middle of updating its long-range transportation plan and is looking for public input to overcome transportation woes.

Over the next few years, the agency will be working with government agencies, the business community, environmental groups and the public to determine the best mix of programs and projects to improve the efficiency of the basin’s transportation system.

The agency will hold workshops to provide people with information about the purpose of the transportation plan, how it will be developed, the existing transportation system, potential improvements, related environmental issues and potential projects and programs.
