Truckee wins battle of unbeatens

The shorthanded Whittell girls’ basketball team lost to Mount Rose League-leading Truckee 46-26 on Friday night in Zephyr Cove.

Whittell (2-1 in league) played without sophomore guard Sierra Forvilly, who missed the game with an illness. Sophomore sisters Emily Harris and Amanda Harris scored 12 and six points, respectively.

“It was pretty tough without Sierra, but our subs went in and held their own,” said Whittell coach Tom Esposito. “Truckee is a good team.”

Truckee (3-0 league, 10-6 overall) led 8-7 after one period and stretched its lead to 10 by halftime.

The Wolverines were led by Aleigh Krug with 16 points and Megan Shalvis netted 13.

Whittell will try to get back on track against Incline on Saturday at 2 p.m.
