Tuesday medical aid spawns rumors

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A call for medical aid spawned a series of rumors over the weekend that one policeman called a classic example of how urban legends are started.

A 25-year-old woman with unspecified medical conditions collapsed in the driveway of a home near South Tahoe High School about 10 a.m. Tuesday, Lt. Brian Williams said.

A passing motorist reported the woman to police as a possible dead body, telling them it appeared the woman was tied up, Williams said.

A dog leash the woman had with her when she collapsed ended up draped over her, Williams said.

Police and firefighters responded to the call and the woman received medical treatment, Williams said.
