Tuesday’s weather: Cold and windy today
Cold weather and strong winds at the upper elevations will be the story to start the day today but conditions should improve by afternoon.
After some cloudiness and even a few flurries especially along the Carson Range and East shore of Lake Tahoe early this morning conditions should become bright and sunny although still cool for this time of year.
High temperatures should warm into the upper 20s to lower 30s with mid to upper 20s at higher elevations by afternoon. Winds will be very strong over the ridges this morning and locally strong below Dagget Pass and Spooner Summit as well as Tahoe’s west shore.
East winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph will be possible this morning in those areas and a Lake Wind Advisory is in effect until noon today for that reason.
Ridge top winds may blow in excess of 70 mph early before decreasing. Tonight should be mainly fine but cold with light winds. Lows will drop into the teens to near 20 with mid 20s possible along the warmer North and East Shore locations. It still appears a significant pattern change may take place by the end of the weekend but in the meantime, the dry weather should hold.
