Tuesday’s weather: Increasing clouds, chance of showers, thunderstorms on Wednesday
August 5, 2008
A southerly flow aloft will bring in mid and high level moisture from the remnants of yesterdays thunderstorms in Southern California over the Tahoe area today. Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 70s to lower 80s with south winds 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
Mostly cloudy skies tonight could yield a few light showers while keeping overnight temperatures rather mild in the mid to upper 40s.
The persistent southerly flow aloft will bring a moist and somewhat unstable air mass on Wednesday for a better chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms across the Tahoe area. Highs on Wednesday should remain in the 70s with the extensive cloud cover and possible shower activity.
A drier southwest flow is forecast to develop on Thursday pushing most of the clouds and afternoon thunderstorm activity east of the Tahoe area. This drier southwest flow pattern is expected through the coming weekend.
