Tuesday’s weather: Partly cloudy, breezy and cooler today
August 19, 2008
The coolest temperatures since July 4th will be felt today as an unseasonably strong cold front moves into the Pacific Northwest.
Highs today are forecast to reach the lower to mid 70s around the lake or about 5 degrees below the seasonal normal for this date. Gusty southwest surface winds around 15 to 30 mph are expected again this afternoon generating 3 foot wave on the north and east shores of Lake Tahoe.
Lows tonight are projected to drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s under partly cloudy skies.
Partly cloudy skies will linger into Wednesday with the trailing clouds along the Pacific cold front. Highs are forecast to top out in the mid to upper 70s with southwest winds 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Higher pressure is forecast to rebuild into the area later in the week with temperatures warming back into the 80s in the afternoons along with sunny skies.
