Tuesday’s weather report: Windy this afternoon

A wind advisory remains in effect today beginning around 1 p.m. this afternoon to

5 a.m. tomorrow morning, according to a National Weather Service statement.

Strong winds ahead of a cold front will begin this afternoon over the Lake Tahoe Basin, Northeast California and Northwest Nevada. South to southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph will occur from this afternoon through most of tonight.

Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, should use caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or cross winds this afternoon through tonight. Aso, the weather service recommends to secure items such as outdoor furniture if they cannot be brought indoors.

The front should move early tomorrow morning bringing about 2 inches of snow above 7,000 feet.
