Tuesday’s weather: Sunny skies over the next couple days, storms on the horizon

Higher pressure building over the area will bring drier and warmer conditions today and Wednesday. Temperatures are forecast to rise to near 60 degrees around the basin this afternoon as clouds and valley fog burn off later this morning.

Wednesday will have the best weather during the week, with sunny skies, light winds and highs reaching into the lower 60s at lake level. Lows tonight will drop down into the upper 20s around the lake with local areas of fog developing, especially in the Truckee area.

Plan your favorite outdoor activities for the next few days, as an active Pacific storm track will bring a series of weather systems into Northern California by Friday and through much of next week.

Stay tuned for updates that may affect your weekend and holiday travel.
