Two added to Zephyr Knolls board

Two new trustees will join three remaining members on the Zephyr Knolls General Improvement District board.

On Thursday, Douglas County Commissioners approved the board’s nominations.

Dave McCune and Phil Weidinger will join returning Chair Bruce Patras, returning vice chair Darell Harris and returning trustee Carl Paulson.

Each member was appointed to a two-year term.

n Lake Commissioner Don Miner told his fellow commissioners Thursday that the Tahoe Douglas Visitors Authority is looking into the possibility of sponsoring motor coaches from Sacramento to South Shore.

Miner said increased traffic along the U.S. Highway 50 corridor and new tribal casinos spouting up on the way to Tahoe were among the top reasons for motor coach consideration.

“The motor coaches would bypass Indian gaming,” Miner said. “Also, I think many people don’t want to come up here because of the traffic and if they do, they leave early Sunday to avoid it.”

The TDVA, created by Nevada State Legislation, consists of four South Shore casino members and a Douglas commissioner. The authority is responsible for allocating Tahoe Township room tax dollars to Lake Tahoe promotion.
