SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ” What was initially reported as a robbery on Friday afternoon turned out to be a kidnapping, and two suspects were arrested, police said.

Around 4:30 p.m., police received a report of a robbery at the Super 8 motel at 3600 Lake Tahoe Blvd. In response to witness information, officers stopped a maroon pickup truck, occupied by three males and one female, in front of Port of Subs at Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Tallac Avenue, according to South Lake Tahoe police Sgt. Josh Adler.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered that the woman in the pickup had been kidnapped from the Stateline area and taken to the Super 8 motel, where the three males helped her escape, Adler said.

Two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested at the Super 8 motel and booked on suspicion of kidnapping and drug possession, Adler said. The occupants of the pickup were released.
