Two arrested on marijuana distribution charges

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Task Force members arrested two South Lake Tahoe men on suspicion of trafficking medical marijuana to the East Coast Tuesday.

David McHenry, 29, and Jeremiah Harper, 31, were arrested at a home on Glenwood Way Tuesday afternoon, said Task Force Commander Jeff Catchings.

SLEDNET members arrested the men after receiving information from Pennsylvania authorities that they may have been distributing marijuana on the east coast.

Narcotics officers found 80 marijuana plants at the Glenwood Way home, Catchings said.

Both men had medical marijuana recommendations, but were “way outside” the limits of California’s medical marijuana laws, Catchings said.

The investigation remains in its “preliminary stages,” Catchings added.

Both men remained in custody in El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe Thursday evening.

McHenry’s attorney, Patricia Ann Campi, declined to comment on the arrest when reached by phone Thursday afternoon.

It’s unknown if Harper has an attorney.

The men have a bail review hearing scheduled for April 5.
