Firefighters from Genoa and Gardnerville responded Tuesday afternoon to a fire on Ranch One in Genoa. The fire was burning by the Carson River below the historic town.

No structures were threatened as of late afternoon, and firefighters were seeking a way to reach the fire. The call for the fire came in at 4:40 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, a half-acre brush fire near Stephanie Way and Vicky Lane was extinguished before it could damage outbuildings that had been considered threatened.

The fire was reported at about 1:15 p.m. near Melbourne, and early reports indicated neighbors were battling the blaze with dirt and water. Firefighters from Johnson Lane, Indian Hills and Minden responded to the scene.
