Two election forums slated this week

Two forums featuring candidates in South Shore races will take place this week.

* Today, the South Tahoe Public Utility District is sponsoring a candidates’ forum Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the district’s board room, 1275 Meadow Crest Drive, South Lake Tahoe.

Candidates running for three open director seats include incumbents Mary Lou Mossbacher and Duane Wallace as well as challengers Ernie Claudio, Dale Rise, John Runnels, and Julie Threewit.

Candidates will make an opening statement, respond to prepared questions, respond to questions submitted from district employees and the public, and conclude with a closing statement.

* On Thursday, the Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation will sponsor a candidates’ forum for Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board and Lake Tahoe Community College Trustee candidates.

The public is invited to attend this informational forum, which will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra House Elementary School multipurpose room.

Candidates for the LTUSD board will speak and answer questions from 6 to 7 p.m. LTCC trustee candidates will make presentations and respond to questions from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. LTCC trustee candidates are Karen Borges, Kenneth Rollston (incumbent) and Frederick “Fritz” Wenck (incumbent.) LTUSD candidates are Barbara Bannar (incumbent,) Michael Doyle, Larry Green, Lauri Kemper, Jill Sanders, and Sue Novasel (incumbent.)
