Two small wildland fires reported Friday
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The U.S. Forest Service responded to two small wildfires Friday.
In the morning, Forest Service, CalFire, and the Meeks Bay Fire Protection District responded to a fire at D.L. Bliss State Park, on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore. The fire was contained at one-tenth of an acre and was on “patrol status” as of 4 p.m., said Forest Service spokeswoman, Cheva Heck.
In the afternoon three Redding Smokejumers parachuted into Desolation Wilderness to respond to a 45 by 40 foot fire near Dick’s Lake. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Heck said.
Smoke visible in the Lake Tahoe Basin is likely from the Long Fire in the Eldorado National Forest, Heck said.
