Two women receive opportunity award
April 8, 2005
Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra and Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe recently presented their Women’s Opportunity Awards. The awards are Soroptimist International of the Americas’ major service project. The program aids women seeking to improve their economic status through training and education. The program helps women who, as the primary wage earners for their families, must enter or return to the work force.
This year’s awardees were Jamie Dillon and Teddi Matheny. Each received $1,000 for education costs, including books, childcare and transportation. Both of their applications have been given to the Sierra Nevada Region of Soroptimist International of the Americas to be considered for additional cash awards.
