U.S. Open to go even deeper into prime time

PEBBLE BEACH – The U.S. Open at Pebble Beach will be televised later than ever in prime time.

The USGA made it official Monday by releasing TV times for the U.S. Open, to be held June 17-20. The third round on NBC Sports is scheduled to end at 11 p.m. EDT. Coverage of the final round is to end at 9 p.m. EDT.

The USGA first mentioned the TV times in February during the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

NBC chairman Dick Ebersol says playing on the West Coast allows the network to showcase one of golf’s biggest events during prime time in the East.

Pebble Beach is one of the most picturesque courses. The U.S. Open returns there for the first time since 2000, when Tiger Woods won by a record 15 shots.
