Steven Hairfield, Ph.D., will speak at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, at Unity at The Lake. His topic will be “The Power of Thought.”

Hairfield will facilitate a workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. on The Power of Thought; Manifesting and Meditation. Suggested offering is $20. He is certified by the Edgar Casey foundation and is also available for private readings.

In his childhood Hairfield discovered he had a special gift. He was never alone. He realized on an intuitive level that his imaginary playmates were quite real. He could see things that no one else could see. This had a profound impact on his life, which urged him to learn more. This urge was so demanding that as an adult, under strenuous circumstances, he decided to become a Zen monk. This process helped him understand his own natural intuitive abilities, as well as the abilities inherent in each of us. It was through the ageless philosophy of Zen monks that he learned the proper use of the intuitive aspect.

Hairfield decided to serve his country by joining the military. His duties led him to Vietnam. The hardships of these vicious battlefields profoundly disturbed him. His search for peaceful answers guided his steps within the walls of a Zen Buddhist monastery in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam, where he took refuge whenever possible. The monks insisted that he should learn about Issa (Jesus). He then learned that Jesus had spent much time in Tibet, Nepal, India and Pakistan. He developed a thirst for knowledge, and a passion to somehow recreate the Master’s 18 years not mentioned in the Bible. First, he had to understand what made the human mind work. After his return to the U.S., he studied and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Pushed by his craving for the bright light of Truth, he traveled to Patanjali Province, India, then to Nepal and into Tibet on two separate occasions. In Tibet, he adapted to the life of a Monk, and for two years, he continued his research and honed the talents Spirit gave him, learning to become a Reiki Master and teacher of several other healing techniques.

On his second return home, he wanted to understand the belief system, and received a master’s degree in religion and theology. He became quite interested in metaphysics during the process. As a result, he went back to the books and received a doctorate in metaphysics. Through his years of studies with Zen and Tibetan monks, Ishaya Monks, as well as Cree and Blackfoot Native American Nations, this true American Monk offers an unparalleled approach to understanding how we influence our own outcomes in life. In his work – lectures, workshops, TV and radio appearances and personal counseling – he enjoys sharing his unique blend of philosophies to help others attain their spiritual goals. In 2000, he was inspired to communicate his accumulated knowledge and experience to the public, through his book, “Once Upon a Parable – A Journey into Life,” now in its second printing.

Hairfield has poured his love for humankind into this explicit work, which can be considered metaphysical interpretation of the most important chapters in today’s Bible. He continues counseling, lecture and workshop tours, and has even released a CD that covers the “Seven Essene Mirrors of Relationship.” He recently finished his second book which is tentatively titled “Return to Innocence Ð A Message from the Ancients.” He lives and works in Reno.
