The South Lake Tahoe American Association of University Women will present on June 26 a walking tour of exclusive Cascade Estates on Lake Tahoe near Baldwin Beach. This tour will feature walking the historic private grounds, viewing exquisite custom homes, and enjoying lakeside refreshments on a private beach.

The tour will include the opportunity to view such homes as a 10,000-square-foot lakefront lodge that was five years in the building. This majestic log home was built with predominately native materials with extensive use of Douglas fir logs and Sierra Nevada granite. Nestled in natural foliage, it seems as through the spectacular lodge and guest home have been in place for a century. The lake view is breathtaking, framed by large trees and landscaping that flows gently to the beach. The interior, inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, gives the visitor a sense of stepping back in time.

Tickets for the tour, which will benefit AAUW’s scholarship program, are $40. Because of the nature of the event, admission will be strictly limited to 300. Tickets may be purchased at the South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe-Douglas chambers of commerce, Sierra Bookshop, Neighbors Bookstore and Village Wear and Gifts at Ski Run marina. They also may be purchased from any AAUW member.
