Update 11:30 a.m.: Arrest made in connection with Tahoe mailbox thefts

South Lake Tahoe police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a series of thefts from mailboxes earlier this morning.

An investigation is ongoing in the string of thefts near James Street, 12th Avenue and Eloise.

Mail has been recovered, police said. It is unknown if the recovered mail was found on the ground or on the suspect now in custody.

Police had been able to follow footprints in the snow and mapped the shoe style of the suspect.

Because the incident is under investigation, police haven’t released the name of the suspect.
