Update 4:15 p.m. Forest Service, city attack small fire behind Colony Inn

A small fire reported east of Heavenly Mountain Resort behind the Colony Inn is being tackled by crews on the scene, according to police scanner traffic.

Multiple fire agencies, including those from Douglas County on the Nevada side, were initially called in for back up. The fire was reported at around 3:50 p.m. Crews at the scene report the small fire ” about 1/4-mile up the hill in the forest ” was small enough that units on the scene were able to knock it down.

South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and a unit from the U.S. Forest Service are fighting the small blaze.

Columns of smoke are visible from the area and multiple calls were made to police dispatch in both California and Nevada. Some calls were from nearby casino hotel rooms.

Structures do not appear to be threatened at this time.
